As part of our mission to become the UK’s number one chilled food manufacturer, we put equal emphasis on how we operate as to the delicious products we create. We’re committed to creating fantastic food in an affordable and sustainable way that has a positive impact on both the communities we’re part of and the world at large.
In the latest step of our ESG strategy, we have formally signed to the Courtauld Commitment 2030.
The Courtauld Commitment is a voluntary agreement that enables collaborative action across the entire UK food chain to deliver farm-to-fork reductions in food waste, water use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that will help the UK food and drink sector achieve global environmental goals.
By signing this commitment we as a group are aligning ourselves with the following goals:
To deliver against UN SDG 12.3: a 50% per capita reduction in food waste by 2030
To deliver a 50% absolute reduction in GHG emissions associated with food and drink consumed in the UK by 2030
To reach an overall target by 2030 that 50% of fresh food is sourced from areas with sustainable water management
Through working closely with the climate action NGO Wrap, leading businesses in the food industry, governments, academics and expert bodies we have pledged to achieve these goals by 2030 to ensure that the world’s natural resources are used more sustainably.
David Moore, our Head of ESG said: “As a leading food group it is our responsibility to both promote and practice sustainable business and trade. We have previously shown our dedication to creating a sustainable future for the food and drink industry through the development of our ESG strategy, our involvement in the landmark UK Soy Manifesto agreement, and now by signing the Courtauld Commitment 2030.
“The Compleat Food Group is proud to be joining other leading brands dedicated to delivering reductions in food waste, water use and greenhouse gases. Through active collaboration, we are committed to helping our industry achieve the necessary environmental targets required to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.”
