The purpose of the Maintenance Engineer is to support the Engineering department to achieve effective and productive running of the processes. Responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery and providing breakdown and maintenance cover on a varied range of machinery. 

Current Engineering Team:

4 Hygiene Support on nights who help dismantle and reassemble machinery.

Bias is electrical knowledge: small 3 phase/single phase, servo, stepper motors, inverters and servo drives. An advantage would be load cells, multihead weighing and sensor technology, including laser and ultrasonic. We would accept 60/40.

Ideal candidates will have multi-skilled engineering experience as well as experience in the food sector being preferable. They will be a self-motivated individual with well-developed interpersonal skills, who is confident with factory teams. The key is an understanding of process. We have a mixture of auto lines and manual lines and many changes – we package over 200 SKUs.

Location: Clitheroe

Hours: Days/Nights rotation  (3 on 3 off shift pattern) – 6am-6pm / 6pm – 6am (Saturday nights off)

Salary: £48,000 per annum

Overtime: Overtime will be available to cover holidays and absence. Overtime paid at 150%

 

Key Duties:

  • Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and practice
  •  Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on a variety of packaging and process equipment
  • Carry out regular maintenance, PPMs and reactive, where directed
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns across a range of equipment to provide minimal downtime
  • Support Line Leaders and Production to facilitate production efficiency
  • Perform ancillary building maintenance around the site and outlying buildings
  • Maintain documentation to provide historical records of breakdowns and PPMs
  • Ensure all required paperwork is kept maintained and up to date throughout the department.
  • Involvement with a number of projects from machinery upgrades to building work
  • Identify spares requirements and maintain stock levels as needed
  • Operate in a safe manner, ensuring at all times, any risk to self and others, is kept to a minimum
  • Work with production to facilitate optimum running time of lines
  • Communicate technical & operational issues, quickly & effectively to relevant departments
  • Attend meetings and deputize for the Senior Engineer when needed
  • Lead projects and improvements and meet due dates

 

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:  

The right candidate will have a passion for food and an enthusiasm to learn on the job in a fast paced sector of the industry. The position is suitable for a candidate looking to start or continue their career within the food manufacturer industry.
